Portable Blender FAQ
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Short, direct answers about portable blenders. The first section covers any portable blender. The second section covers BLENDi.
Buying a portable blender
Are portable blenders worth it?
A portable blender is worth it if you make single-serve shakes or smoothies away from a kitchen, for example at work, at school or in the car. You blend and drink from the same cup, so there is less to carry and wash. It does not replace a full-size countertop blender for large batches.
Can a portable blender crush ice?
Some can and some cannot. Many small models are made only for powders, liquids and soft fruit. Before you buy, check that the maker says the blender crushes ice. For the best result, add enough liquid with the ice and blend on a full charge. The BLENDi Pro+ and Steel crush ice. The BLENDi Lite does not.
Does higher wattage mean a better portable blender?
Not by itself. Watts tell you the motor power, but the blade design and the maker's ice rating also matter. Use watts to compare models from the same brand. For example, the BLENDi Lite (70W) is for shakes and powders, and the BLENDi Pro+ (120W) crushes ice in about 20 seconds.
How long does a portable blender battery last?
Makers usually give battery life as the number of blends per full charge. Compare this number before you buy. The BLENDi Pro+ gives about 14 blends per full charge on a new unit. All BLENDi models charge by USB-C.
How do you clean a portable blender?
Most portable blenders clean themselves. Add water and a drop of dish soap, run one blend cycle, then rinse. Let the cup air dry upside down, and do not store it wet.
How do I choose a portable blender?
Start with what you blend. If you use ice or frozen fruit, choose a model that the maker rates for ice. Then check the capacity, the blends per full charge and the charging port (USB-C is the easiest). Last, check the warranty, the return window and whether the maker sells replacement parts.
How much does a good portable blender cost?
Look at what you get for the price, not only the price. Check three things: does it crush ice, how many blends do you get per charge, and how long is the warranty. BLENDi prices are $29.99 for the Lite, $59.99 for the Pro+ and $99 for the Steel.

No. BLENDi is a separate company, founded in 2016 by Jon Katz. The BlendJet 2 recall did not include BLENDi products, and BLENDi has had zero recalls since 2016. BlendJet cups and lids do not fit BLENDi blenders.
