Lithium-ion battery recycling

Done blending?
Recycle it right.

Your BLENDi runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery — which means it doesn't belong in the trash. The good news: recycling it is free, fast, and there's almost certainly a drop-off near you.

Three simple steps

Recycling your BLENDi

No tools, no fees, no hassle. Here's all there is to it.

1Powering down the BLENDi and removing the cup

Power it down

Make sure your BLENDi is switched off and the battery is fully drained if possible. Pop the cup off the base so just the motor unit is left.

Why it can't go in the trash

Lithium-ion batteries are powerful and reusable — but when they're crushed or punctured in trash trucks and landfills, they can spark fires and leak materials that don't belong in the ground or water.

Recycling recovers the metals inside so they can power the next generation of devices. One small drop-off keeps a battery out of the waste stream and a fire risk out of the system. It takes two minutes and it genuinely adds up.

Common questions

Do I recycle the whole blender or just the battery?+
The battery is sealed inside the motor base, so just bring the whole base unit to an electronics or rechargeable-battery drop-off — they'll handle it from there. The blending cup and lid are not electronic and can go with your regular plastics recycling.
Is it really free?+
Yes. Programs like Call2Recycle and many retail and municipal drop-off points accept rechargeable batteries and small electronics at no charge to you. Always confirm with your specific location, since programs can vary by region.
Can I just throw it in my curbside recycling bin?+
No — please don't. Lithium-ion batteries should never go in household trash or curbside recycling, where they can cause fires. They need a dedicated battery or electronics recycling point.
What if there's no drop-off near me?+
Many of the locators offer mail-in recycling kits if a nearby location isn't convenient. Check the Call2Recycle and Earth911 links above for mail-back options in your area.
My BLENDi still works — can I donate it instead?+
Absolutely. If it still blends, passing it to someone who'll use it is even better than recycling. When it finally reaches the end of its life, come back here and recycle the battery responsibly.
