Reese Witherspoon's famous Green Smoothie

In the name of all things vegetarian, today we will be talking about Reese Witherspoon's famous Green Smoothie that she allegedly drinks every day. According to EatingWell, the famous actress got the smoothie recipe from her Little Fires Everywhere Co-Star, Kerry Washington. Before we jump into the recipe, here’s a little background on the very talented Reese Witherspoon for those who don’t know her.  She’s an actress who’s most commonly known for her role as Elle Woods in Legally blonde. And if you’re living under a rock and have never seen it, it’s the perfect movie for girls night, so I recommend it 100%! She’s the mother of three kids, as well as an entrepreneur and director. The recipe we’re going to be sharing today was one taken directly from a video she posted of herself on Instagram.

INGREDIENTS

2 heads romaine lettuce

1/2 cup spinach

1/2 cup coconut water

1 whole banana

1 whole apple (core removed)

1 whole pear (core removed)

1 whole lemon (rind removed)

Celery (optional)

Almond butter (optional)

Roughly chop the romaine and add it to your BLENDi with the spinach, coconut water banana, apple pear, lemon and the other optional ingredients if using. Once that's all blended up, simply pop the cap back and enjoy!! You’re now living like Elle woods.

For those of you who are wondering what the nutritional value of the smoothie is, it comes out to around 270 calories and has 20 grams of fiber per serving with all the ingredients. The benefits of eating fiber include a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and bowel cancer. It also adds up to serve 9 grams of protein!  As well as being loaded with plenty of vitamin A and vitamin C, this smoothie will have you energized, glowing and refreshed.

Vitamin C is one of the safest and most effective nutrients, experts say. Though it may not be the cure for the common cold, the benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling.  Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in many foods. Vitamin A is important for normal vision, the immune system, and reproduction. Vitamin A also helps the heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs work properly.

If you’re looking for a great way to incorporate all these amazing nutrients into your diet, we suggest you follow this recipe. And if we’re being honest, I’m pretty sure we ALL want to look as glowy and healthy as Reese :)
